Annual Conference 2026
New Frontiers
We believe that our subject remains one of the most meaningful and formative within our schools. In 2026 we turn our attention to New Frontiers: the questions and opportunities that shape the future of Theology, Philosophy and Religious Studies education. One of the most urgent of these is the rapidly developing world of Artificial Intelligence. How might AI enrich, challenge and reshape the work we do? How do we ensure that the discipline remains rigorous, humane and deeply rooted while embracing new possibilities?
Our keynote speakers will open up these questions in depth.
Sir Anthony Seldon will explore the place of AI in education and consider how it may shape pupils’ moral and spiritual formation.
Professor Daphne Hampson will consider the future of our subject in light of the 2025 Curriculum and Assessment Report, asking what the New Frontiers of RS might look like: what remains essential, what should grow, and what may rightly change in the years ahead.
Professor Hampson will also be available for conversation throughout the day. As her work is studied by A level students, this provides a valuable opportunity for teachers to gain clarity on her thought and to explore how best to teach and contextualise her ideas in the classroom.
Alongside these keynotes, we will offer a comprehensive programme of high-quality, practice-informed professional development, designed to support rigorous and inspiring Theology, Philosophy and Religious Studies teaching.
- Exam Boards: in light of the 2025 Curriculum and Assessment Review, the exam board sessions will not only support current GCSE and A level teaching, but will also help colleagues consider how examined RS may develop if the review’s recommendations are adopted. These sessions will offer practical guidance while enabling departments to think ahead and plan strategically for possible future changes.
- Assemblies for Years 1–2, introducing ways to engage younger children with Biblical themes thoughtfully and imaginatively.
- Securing the highest grades at GCSE and A level.
- Strategies for teaching difficult topics with clarity, confidence and care.
- How to set up a new course for departments beginning or reshaping provision.
- AI in the RS classroom: how to use it well to benefit both teachers and pupils, and how to understand the associated risks, responsibilities and boundaries.
