Theology

Philosophy
‘Telling a lie is never right even if the outcome is good.’ Do you agree? Show that you have considered both sides of the argument.
Religion
‘Resurrection makes more sense than reincarnation.’ Do you agree? Show that you have considered both sides of the argument. Refer to one religion you have studied.
Category 2: Year 8-9
Theology
‘Even though Jesus’ disciples were failures, they are still good role models for us.’ Do you agree? Show that you have considered both sides of the argument.
Philosophy
‘Everywhere in the world we observe order and purpose, therefore God must exist.’ Do you agree? Show that you have considered both sides of the argument.
Religion
‘Religion is not about having beliefs; it is about doing.’ Do you agree? Show that you have considered both sides of the argument. Refer to one religion you have studied.
Competition rules:
- An ISRSA school may enter up to 4 candidates per age category
- Only one essay per candidate may be entered
- Essays must be scanned (preferably as a pdf) and sent to ISRSA by Friday 10th May, 2024
- Each essay must have the candidate’s name, school and year group placed at the top
- Teachers must ensure that their pupils have written their own work
- Category 1: Year 6-7 essays must be no longer than 400 words
- Category 2: Years 8-9 essays must be no longer than 800 words
- By entering this competition, you give permission for us to post your pupils’ essays on our website.
